Maggi spent years in consulting and fintech before starting Sumly. She watched friends go independent and lose nights to receipts and quarterly taxes, and decided there had to be a calmer way.
Maximo Librandi
Co-founder & CTO
Maximo is a software engineer and former freelancer. He's lived the messy money side of self-employment firsthand, and builds Sumly to be the tool he wished he'd had.
Why we built Sumly.
Sumly started with a question I kept asking my friends: why is the money side of going independent so hard?
I met Maximo at a pitch competition at Columbia, where he was finishing his Master's in Engineering and I was at the Business School. We were both watching people we love take the leap into consulting, coaching, therapy, and creative work, and then lose their evenings to receipts, spreadsheets, and the dread of quarterly taxes.
We built Sumly to be the calmest, easiest way to track expenses, keep clean books, and run your business, so you spend less time on admin and more time with your clients. A real tax pro handles your filing. Every deduction gets caught. April stops being scary.
